Dear Sands Montessori Families,
The new school is amazingly beautiful and of course having central air conditioning has made a huge difference for all of us. With the weather continuing to be so warm, having central air has made such an improvement with quantity of work, completion of work, and peacefulness throughout the building. Our “friends” are doing an amazing job with routines and following our number 1 rule of WORK!
I continue to “tweak” routines and traffic patterns. Thanks for your patience and flexibility. Here are some more school updates and requests... READ MORE »

Buses will enter through the driveway to the left of the school where students will be dropped off at the entrance near the cafeteria.
Parent Drop-off will be through the driveway to the right of the school. Students will be met and escorted into the building by staff members. Pre-school and Kindergarten students will enter through the first set of doors. All other students will enter through the second set of doors. If parents need to come into the office, please drop your student off and then park in the visitor’s lot.
Walkers will enter through the doors off the parent drop-off driveway on the right side of the building. They will use the sidewalk that winds around the drive.
DISMISSAL:
We will begin dismissal at 3:35 for 3-6 and 6-9 students. 9-12 students should leave at 3:40. Buses- Teachers will escort the bus-riders to their buses which will be lined up along the back of the building.
Parent Pick-up ( Pre-school Pick-up will be from 11:55 to 12:10pm at the same door as the AM drop-off.) Parents should line up along the circle from the driveway on the right of the building. Please have your last name posted on the front windshield. The students will be waiting in two hallways near the driveway. Staff will radio your name in to the hallways, and your child(ren) will be escorted out to your car. Keep your position in line until you have your child in your car. Please be careful and courteous. Thank you.
All walkers will use the 3-6 ELA exit at the Parent Pick-up area, and use the sidewalk around the drive to the crosswalk at Corbly. This procedure will keep walkers off the parking lots and driveway and out of the construction at the back of the building.

Next year we hope to have all communication from SMPO on line. This includes the Reporter. The costs now used for printing will be much better spent on our children and their classrooms. There will be more information to come in the first day packets at the beginning of the school year, but should you have any questions or concerns or if you have no Internet access to SMPO.net, please call 871-0102.

Returning Sands families are needed to serve as "hosts" for the Buddy Family Program, to welcome one or two new Sands families and to help with their transition to a new school. This would mean being available to answer questions, inviting them to Sands events, and whatever else you feel would be helpful. The extent of your involvement will vary depending on what you are able to do and the new families' needs. To volunteer or for questions, please use our contact form and select BUDDY FAMILY PROGRAM.
**If your are a new family and would like another Sands family to help in your transition, please use the contact form linked above. Someone will contact you in the next couple of weeks.
