It is with great pride that I report to you that the Silent Auction was a great success! We made over $23,000. Not bad for an evening of work. As you well know, although it was over in a flash, this event took months of work to bring together. I cannot begin to thank everyone involved. There are a couple of folks I must recognize, however. Without my co-chairperson, Nickole Pope-George, we would not have been nearly as successful. The other person I must mention is our Resource Coordinator, Pam Fellerhoff. Her unending energy, ideas and organization were phenomenal. As for the rest of the ladies on the Silent Auction Committee, what can I say but YOU ROCK! It was an honor to work with such a dedicated group of people. You really made my job easy.
I felt the evening went wonderfully with music from Sands parent Cliff Adams and his band Azucar.
We were also entertained by auctioneer, Mike Ryan who certainly added spirit to the event.
The food was fabulous and plentiful thanks to our many generous donors.
The Anderson Center was filled to the brim with classroom projects, personalized items and hundreds of donated items.
Last but not least, I would like to thank the parents, Rita Swegman, teachers, staff and all those who attended, for without your support the Auction would not be possible. I had so much fun I can hardy wait until next year.

In her letter, Ms. Swegman reminded us to incorporate time for play this summer. We have one of the best park systems in the country. So to liven up your summer consider: Frisbee golf or Parky’s Wetland Adventure at Woodland Mound, fishing at Lake Isabella, a summer concert and paddle boating at Sharon or Winton Woods, walking or biking the nature trails at Miami Whitewater, putting a canoe in at Bass Island, exploring the Childrens’ Discovery Garden at Glenwood Gardens, or taking advantage of myriad educational outdoor programs.
